About Department

The Department of Environmental Studies at Swami Shraddhanand College was introduced in 2015 with the implementation of CBCS system in Delhi University, under the supervision of Department of Botany. The Department has 3 Faculty members, Dr. Neetu Sharma, Dr. M. Jiban and Ms. Viniti Nagar. All the faculty members have good experience of teaching and research. All the students of undergraduate level study this subject under the course of AECC (Ability enhance compulsory course). The subject “Environmental Studies” aim to develop critical thinking for shaping strategies (scientific, social, economic, administrative, and legal) for environmental protection, conservation of biodiversity, environmental equity, and sustainable development. Besides imparting knowledge to students, this subject will grow moral and ethical values among them which will further help in cultivating a positive attitude towards environmental resources with active participation in solving current environmental problems and preventing the future ones. For providing significant solution to different environmental problems, environmental skills are essential. This subject will help in encouraging the students to move towards ecofriendly activities.
